Photobucket of Hybrid Beauty
Joe put together a photobucket of all the shots we like the most of Hybrid Beauty. This way, they are all in a collective place and fans/audience members can access them easier
Digipak FINAL draft
Changes from the last digipak:
- Drea reworded the ‘special thanks’ page on Beth's recommendation so it wasn't repetitive and it was simplistic
- We also added a space nebula background based on Joe’s initial digipak idea
We thought these changes would be good
to incorporate as it added depth to the dikipak and helps us/ our fans and
audience differentiate between each page

Music video first draft: edited from feedback
After feedback we received from the original first draft, we have made the following changes:
Here is the result:
- We have gotten rid of most of the black and white effects and played around with the colours of the beach shots using the RGB curves colour editor in premier. We have found that this looks much better and the beautiful weather on the day is highlighted
- We have also gotten rid of the noise grain effect on the pool shots and made the blue stand out much more using the RGB curves colour editor in premiere. This looks much better, the shots stand out more and the blue looks effective
- We have included more shots of Beth and Drea producing the track in a music room a little more and more shots of all three of us to make it clearer we are producers and musicians in the girl band not main vocalists
Here is the result:
Website final construction
Some typos have been corrected and the tour dates have been striked through to indicate we have completed our tour. Also, images on the gallery page have been resized to draw attention to different ones!
Digipak third draft
After reflecting on our second draft digipak as a group, we have made the following changes:
- We have changed the colour of the font on the CD so it stands out more
- We have added a picture onto the lyrics page
- We have added a bar code to the back album cover page
- We have changed the wording on the special thanks page so it is more condensed and not as cheesy
- We have added a star background on the special thanks page (courtesy of Joe)

Class feedback on our first draft
We filmed class members watching our first draft and recorded some feedback. From this, we could see what we needed to change/improve:
Thursday, 4 December 2014
Digipak second draft
After reflecting on our digipak feedback, we have made the following changes:
This is the result, designed by Drea/Beth:
- We have changed the CD design so it looks a bit more modern and professional, it also ties in with the water theme we have chosen in our music video
- We have taken our peers advice and chosen to create a lyric page instead of having two image pages. The same font is used on the lyric page as on the rest of the digipak: alpaca solidify
- We have changed the words on the special thanks page so it isn't as long winded and goes with our Hybrid Beauty theme
- The individual pages for the digipak and the album covers/CDs now fit much better into their individual squares so it looks more professional and is more likely to be bought in shops by fans
This is the result, designed by Drea/Beth:

Music video audience questionnaire first draft
Below is the first draft of a questionnaire we could ask viewers to fill out to receive appropriate and helpful feedback of the first draft of the music video:
Are you male or female?
What genre would you say the music video is?
What do you like about the music video?
What could be improved?
Does it look like a real music video? Why/why not?
Would you buy the album based on the digipak design? Why/why not?
What TV channels would you expect to see the music video shown on?
Is the music video suitable for the artist? Is this something they would release? Why/ why not?
Please give the music video a score out of 10:
Digipak first draft feedback from peer groups
The following text is feedback we received from class members about the first draft of our feedback:
- Love the photograph where you're on the stairs, its so professional, the black and white theme is nice, not sure about the text, it looks a bit microsoft wordy
- I think there is far to much going on in most of the squares in this digipak. I think there is a lot to much to look at so if someone was looking at it in a shop they would not read all of it.
- Good variety of pictures, introduces the band well. Could add colour similar to music video.
- WWW: Great Hybrid Beauty Font! Great quality photos, perfect special thanks page and cool picture page. EBI: You lose the black and white like you did in the video. Remove the slanted on 'hybrid beauty'. Difficult to read some of the song names because of hair. CD is basic but effective but would be better if it wasn't on a black background. Special thanks page is brilliant don't change unless adding colour!
- As said above, I really like Hybrid Beauty's digipak as the colour scheme is brilliant and it really establishes the identity of a 3 piece group.
- The hybrid beauty digipak also uses a lot of pictures. All the pictures look professional. A lot of people have used a black and white background, maybe use colour? The fonts and the pictures go well with the with the rest of the digipak. Over all the layout is really good and it all goes well together.
- Middle panel on the top - not loving this font and style. The CD isn't too strong either, overlay a semi transparent image of the band in B&W to create stronger imagery, and the blue link doesn't work - try making it a mid-grey to complete the colour scheme. Overall, though, the layout is great, and goes with the conventions of the genre!
- Flawless.
- I like the fonts that have been used as they are very individual. There isn't much colour which means the digipak doesn't stand out. The lack of colour doesn't go with the artists genre.
- I like the digipak but it feels very busy, maybe calming it down will help.
- Maybe add in a lyrics page rather than 2 pages of pictures.
- I like the black and white theme i think there could be more writing and less pictures
- White text on white background makes it hard to read Copied me for the download thing, copyrighted it Font looks strange with blocks instead of gaps in o's
- Fun layout, girly vibe. Black and white a bit boring? 'Special Thanks' page looks cheesy
- i'm confused as to what the album name is as there is only the band name on it - does this mean it is self-titled or am i missing it? i like the black and white colour scheme and the use of the pictures throughout. the fonts and colours link together on each section and the 'special thanks' is a cute addition.
- Good theme with black and white, interesting digipak pages. Improvement: make it fit a bit better into the boxes so it looks more professional
After reading this, we are going to try our best to make the following improvements:
- Some feedback says that there is too much going on in the squares and they wouldn't read it all if it was in a shop - from this we will try to simplify the amount of information on some of the digipak pages
- Some feedback says to perhaps get rid of the black and white - we will not be doing this as we really like the theme of black and white and it ties in really well with our website and video - synergy people!
- Our CD is too simple so we will try to make this a bit more interesting, more words/images, more copyright labels?
- Adding in a lyrics page rather than two image pages - good idea!
- Our album is self titled, there shouldn't be any confusion about this!
- Overall, we received some great feedback saying it looks really professional, the font is good and the images go with the conventions of the genre. Although we will make some changes, these will be minor not major and to our liking

Music video draft: feedback for improvements
After exporting the first draft of our music video, we have received the following comments for improvement:
- We should re-think using black and white effects as it was a nice day when we filmed and the song is quite upbeat. The black and white makes it look a bit dull - the vintage filter over the top of the beach shots can be kept though as we received positive feedback for that
- The pool shots need to be brightened up a bit to really stand out. At the moment they have a noise grain effect over them and we received feedback to say we should remove this effect and just make the blue stand out more
- We need more shots with Beth and Drea playing instruments, as Emma is the main singer people were confused what part Beth and Drea played in being a girl band - to emphasis we are the producers and we play instruments in the song we need to incorporate more shots to highlight this
Overall, we received a lot of positive feedback about our music video, saying it was very impressive and looked very professional. People generally liked all of the shots we have included and the cuts we have chosen to use

Drea thought it would be a nice unique touch to create lyric posters for some of the other songs on our album. As the songs aren't real, she took some of the titles that we had already decided on, and tried to construct one or two lines that use the title in some way. She tried to create lyrics that matched the concept and sound of Black Beauty. We then posted these on Twitter and pretended that our fans sent them in.
